What creates the cottage cheese look of cellulite?

Simply put, cellulite is caused by loose or weak skin and connective tissues that are unable to keep the fat in their compartments.

Fat tissues or deposits to escape through weakened connective fibre lines and rise up to the surface, creating the dimply, orange peel effect. Encouraging strong skin and muscles are the best measures for keeping the fatty deposits under control.

Cellulite is formed by the creation of water pockets fat deposits which means that the most effective way to manage them is through correct exercise and diet. An exercise program is absolutely necessary as well as the right intake of food and proper supplementation. Certain foods known for their cell-building properties can really help control cellulite.

Protein: The problem of cellulite is more pronounced in women who have muscles and loose skin. Exercise and protein can reduce stores of fat under the skin, the protein helps to firm the muscles that can then keep fat stores in place and reduce the effect of cellulite. Older skin, like older muscles, needs protein, especially soy protein with less fat, for toning and firming.

How much protein is needed to produce the firm, toned muscles? Approximately 0.6 grams per kilo of lean body mass if you are a moderately active and 1 gram per kilogram of lean body mass if you are very active.

You can get lean protein from fish, especially salmon because fish provides a high dose of fatty acids.

Amino acids and essential fatty acids: You also need amino acids that help build the store of skin collagen and elastin. The best sources of these are complex carbohydrates like beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits. These provide your body with essential fatty acids that slow down the separation of skin cells, thereby reducing the occurrence of mutations and inflammation within these cells, even when exposed to ultraviolet light. All human body cells are surrounded by a membrane composed of phospholipids made chiefly from essential fatty acids. This membrane controls what enters cells and what comes out. A good source of essential fatty acids would literally strengthen the cell membrane and maintain the cell body intact.

Research shows that supplementation with fish oil and flaxseed oil can produce a marked improvement in the texture and tone in the first two months of use. Because the outer skin is replaced every 50-80 days, proper supplementation can have a direct and firming effect on skin.

Glucosamine: Glucosamine (a supplement that can help with arthritis) has been shown to restore moisture in the joints and keeping the cell tissues well hydrated; this in turn has a positive effect in plumping the cells. Adequate amounts of glucosamine in the blood are necessary to retain the flexibility of the skin. Studies show that participants who begin taking glucosamine before and after surgery experienced faster healing with less scarring of skin tissues than participants who did not take glucosamine.

Of course, dietary supplements and diets are only half effective without exercise…

There is no question that cellulite can be improved with exercise. Wayne Westcott Ph.D, produced specific workouts that resulted in a significant decrease of cellulite. During two months, 16 women participated in 20 minutes of cardio, strength and flexibility exercises three times a week. At the end of two months, the women lost an average of 1 and 1 / 3 inches from your hips, and an average of 1 pound. All women reported less cellulite in their lower bodies, this was also confirmed by ultrasound measurements.

So for best results in reducing the look of dimpled cellulite, eat protein and take up a regular exercise routine. This combination will fire up your metabolism, assist the development of lean body tissue, firm the muscles under the skin and keep the fat deposits under control within the connective tissues.

Also, eating plenty of beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits for sources of amino acids to help improve the skin.

A good source of essential fatty acids from fish oil and flaxseed oil can also strengthen the integrity of the membranes of skin cells thereby reducing the problem of runaway fatty tissues – that essentially is what cellulite is.

Take glucosamine supplements like JointAce to help increase the resilience of the skin and reduce cellulite.

A good source of essential fatty acids from fish oil and flaxseed oil can also strengthen the integrity of the membranes of skin cells thereby reducing the problem of runaway fatty tissues – that essentially is what cellulite is.

As ever we also encourage that you massage on a regular basis the affected areas to help assist your body to eliminate the build up of cellulite producing toxins.

Getting Rid of Cellulite

When you think of cellulite, you probably think of ugly "orange peel" and "cottage cheese thighs.

The trouble is that even have to be overweight to have cellulite. Even thin and slender people suffer from it.

Regular fat is distributed in all parts of the body, but cellulite gravitates towards certain areas like:

  • Bottom
  • Thighs
  • Ankles
  • Back and inland areas of the arms
  • Hips
  • Stomach

Cellulite is a potential precursor of other health problems such as varicose veins and broken blood vessels.

A simple test will help detect cellulite. Press the tissue between the thumb and finger, or between two palms. If cellulite is present, you can see the designs ugly 'orange peel' skin.

The formation of cellulite:
The muscles in our body are covered with a padding of fatty connective tissue. Surrounded by a fluid, which nourishes and helps eliminate waste.

When all systems working in harmony, the waste products that accumulate in the fluid is extracted efficiently. But when the waste begins to build in the liquid, it thickens and hardens into his pockets. This forms grooves that look like "cottage cheese."

Some factors that contribute to helping the accumulation of cellulite:

  • Lack of exercise
  • Constipation and digestive problems
  • Insufficient water intake
  • Poor eating habits
  • Hormonal cycles
  • Pregnancy
  • The formation of cellulite can begin during adolescence.

To recover the contours of your skin, it is necessary to loosen trapped debris and flush them from the body. The connective tissue also has to be released and restored to its original elasticity.

The best way is through strength training, cardiovascular work, massage and a healthy diet.

Strength training:

As we age, metabolism slows, and there is an alarming loss of body muscle. At the same time, the fat begins to accumulate. A woman can gain 15 pounds of fat per decade.

Strength training fights this detrimental muscle loss and limits fat gain. Muscles burn calories even when the body is at rest. Focus on exercises that target your hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes and abductors. Lunging, squatting, bending the legs and leg extensions are effective

Diet:

If you desire a smooth cellulite free body evaluate your eating habits.

  • Eat foods rich in fiber.
  • Stay away from white flour, white rice, commercial fruit juices, colas and soda.
  • Eat five to six small meals, rich in lean protein (fish and chicken) and low-glycemic carbohydrates (oatmeal and sweet potatoes) are best.
  • Limit sodium intake.
  • Alcohol is a definite NO.
  • Drink lots of water, detoxification is an important part of their battle against cellulite.

Proper disposal of waste is required. Constipation is one of the main causes of cellulite. Do not use laxatives to remedy this, but to use stool bulking products. These products have no side effects. A diet rich in fiber helps rapid movements of the intestine.

Massage the areas that contain cellulite to stimulate circulation. This is particularly good for areas that are difficult to exercise, as well as internal areas of the thighs and arms.

The process of eliminating cellulite can take time and sometimes feels discouraging. Hard work, dedication and optimism are very important to help you reach your cellulite free goals.

What to Look For When Buying a Home Cellulite Massager

Posted by Cellulite Massager

When choosing a massager to use for cellulite removal it is really important to get a mains plug massager.

Any massager that is battery operated just won't be strong enough to do the job -  and the moment the battery runs down you will lose more and more power and it will become less and less effective -  so only purchase a good mains massager that has a professional power to it

Think about what the professional use  -  would they use a flimsy battery operated massager or a mains plug one with real power to get things moving.

The point of the massage is to break down fatty deposits and increase the circulation in the affected area. This will help flush away any build up of toxins that can contribute to cellulite.

The Aldrah Health Pro massager (pictured here) is an excellent  powerful massager that has real pro strength.

It also has a brush attachment for the head which is perfect for skin brushing and a deep muscle reaching attachment which seriously helps to tone the muscles underneath.

So not only are you removing the cellulite but you're also toning up the muscles underneath that has been covered up by the cellulite.

It is sold in the UK and is used as a 'secret'  tool by many beauty therapists for cellulite treatments.

It has a similar power and effectiveness than a G5 massager but at a quarter of the price.

Its available in the UK and Europe here :  Aldrah Health Pro Massager

Best Cream for Cellulite

Posted by Cellulite Massager

If you are looking for an emergency quick fix approach to improve the appearance of areas prone to cellulite, cellulite cream can be a good option. If on the other hand, you are hoping to get rid of the lumps and bumps forever, then you might want to change your diet and exercise and massage regimen.

Unfortunately, while the number of products are increasing, research on its effectiveness is kept to a minimum. The application of these creams is actually not a cure for cellulite but temporarily plumps up the skin for a few hours creating a smoother texture. As soon as you stop using them -  alas -  cellulite reappears.

Cellulite creams are usually quite expensive and sometimes three or four times the price of a regular moisturizer. If you want to get the best results from your cellulite cream, it is usually best to apply the cream at night when the skin is more permeable, and any effect from the active ingredients are more likely to be increased.

Please note that not all cellulite creams are governed by advisory boards that control the production of medicines and creams, so that the promises made in the package are not always based on facts.

To help you choose your anti-cellulite cream or lotion, here are the latest buzzwords and key ingredients of the industry is currently using:

Aminophylline
Most cellulite creams containing aminophylline, a theophylline derivative active ingredient that is used to relax certain muscle types. This is best known for its use as an asthma medication which is taken to relax the lungs.
The basis behind these creams, in terms of treatment of cellulite is that is said to increase the metabolism of fat cells. However, a recent study by the International Journal of Obesity showed that aminophylline cream does not enter the bloodstream, and therefore can not break down fat cells. Although these two studies have reported a reduction in the appearance of cellulite of patients after treatment with aminophylline cream.
For the moment, it seems necessary to have stronger evidence and tests on this cream to investigate its effectiveness. Meanwhile, if you buy a cream containing aminophylline, keep away from heat and use quickly.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA)
The lactic acid and glycolic acid found in plants and certain foods such as citrus, apples, grapes, apricots, tomatoes and sour milk. At lower concentrations, AHAs act as exfoliants, accelerating the removal of the surface layer of dead skin cells, increasing cell turnover rate, and the thickness of the outer layer of the skin. At this time no studies have been published in the AHA as an effective treatment for cellulite.

Caffeine
Caffeine is also used as an ingredient in cellulite creams. There is currently no independent research showing that caffeine is successful in getting rid of cellulite, nor is there any research that points to the amount of caffeine needed to produce results.

Retinoids
These are derivatives of vitamin A and often used in wrinkle treatment creams. At concentrations of 0.01 to 0.1 percent, retinoid cream reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles and roughness of facial skin, improving the thickness of the epidermis and circulation to the skin. At this moment there are no large studies have been conducted to test its capabilities in the fight against cellulite. If you are using a retinol-based cream is important to only apply it at night as retinol is destroyed by exposure to light.

What is Mesotherapy

Posted by Cellulite Massager

Mesotherapy is a hotly debated technique that aims to reduce fat and cellulite by injecting various substances directly into the layer of body fat. It was developed in the 1950s in France, and has since become very popular worldwide, with particular popularity in the United States. Mesotherapy has professional range, with many cosmetic surgeons offer it as a specialty.

Prices vary depending on the area to be treated by the procedure and the number of treatments purchased, but is generally comparable to other minor cosmetic surgery.

Mesotherapy is touted as being able to reduce fat in 'spot' treatments, with emphasis on problem areas notorious as the buttocks, love handles, inner thigh, neck and chin.

Many practitioners also claim that mesotherapy can help drastically reduce cellulite, eliminate wrinkles, remove scars and even stimulate hair growth.

The procedure itself is fairly simple. A "special cocktail" of vitamins, minerals and medications is injected directly into the layer of fat located just beneath the skin. The injected mixture is different for each area being treated, and is adjusted for the effect desired by the practitioner. Once injected, this cocktail theoretically 'walk melts the fat, breaking down fat cells to the point where they can be expelled through the intestines and kidneys. For treatment of cellulite, the injection serves to weaken the connective tissue bands that hold the fat down, reducing dimpling and resulting in a cleaner appearance.

Mesotherapy is the subject of much debate and criticism by members of the medical and health activists. Many argue that the lack of concrete data and evidence that mesotherapy little more than a chimera, and that professionals suggest that treatment is simply taking advantage of customers desperate desire to reduce fat and cellulite. The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery recently made a statement that can not support mesotherapy until more research validated the many claims that its practitioners as to their effectiveness.

Side effects of mesotherapy may include bruising, heightened sensitivity, liver damage, itching, swelling, redness and burning. For most people, these effects disappear quickly, with pain and itching rarely lasts more than a few days, and bruising and swelling collapse in a week. Most people receive less than three to ten treatments, at a distance of approximately one week to one month between treatments.

Mesotherapy is not usually advertised as a weight loss technique, but rather a body sculpting procedure.

Mesotherapy is intended more to remove inches from problem areas to slim the body. Despite a healthy amount of debate about whether or not mesotherapy is effective, its popularity continues to grow apace. Many people prefer mesotherapy to liposuction because it is noninvasive, requires no anesthetic or bandages, and requires no downtime after the procedure is performed.

Anti Cellulite Diet

Posted by Cellulite Massager

Cellulite is a type of fat that gives the skin a lumpy or dimpled look. It mainly affects women, particularly around the buttocks and thighs.

Many methods are used to combat cellulite, including the use of cream cellulite reduction, body wraps and massages, and laser treatment.

But there is a safe and efficient way to reduce cellulite as well – eating the right foods to help eliminate fat stores, toxins and fluid under the skin.

Avoid saturated fats

When there is excess fat in the diet, the body naturally gains fat. Avoid fatty foods like red meat and dairy cream.
Opt for white meat and low-fat dairy alternatives. These foods are also lean protein foods that help build muscle and burn more calories than fat.

They also contain many essential fatty acids (EFAs) in the diet as these acids also help burn body fat. The sources of essential fatty acids are oily fish, nuts and avocados.

Avoid 'simple carbohydrates'

Simple or refined carbohydrates such as white flour, bread and rice rapidly increase the level of blood sugar, which in turn leads to more fat being stored in the body.

Alternate a variety of alternatives like brown rice and wholemeal bread. Also eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables.

Reduce salt and sugar

Too much salt in the body and the body will try to dilute it to store more water in the tissues of the body. The results – fluid retention and cellulite. Sweet and sugary foods such as refined carbohydrates, the blood sugar level, which in turn encourages the storage of fat in the body. It also causes more free radicals in the body, damaging healthy tissues such as collagen and elastin, which are essential for keeping the skin healthy and soft.

Expel toxins

The lymphatic system must be working properly to help the body eliminate toxins, other major causes of cellulite. And antioxidants can be of great help here. So that includes lots of fruits full of antioxidants like citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberries and raspberries.
Iodine has also been found to be useful to drain toxins. iodine-rich foods are pears, and nori seaweed.

Reduce Fluid Retention

Fluid retention often cause cellulite. So getting rid of excess fluid in the body is also crucial to reduce cellulite. Certain foods like celery, parsley and dandelion leaves have diuretic and can help drain excess fluid.

Also noteworthy here is potassium, which can help combat fluid retention. So go for the potassium-rich foods such as beans and legumes, prunes, bananas, dried apricots and pineapple as well.

Moderate drinking

Alcohol increases the levels of fat in the blood and causes blood flow to be slow. Worse, it also helps to form a lot of free radicals in the body, which can damage healthy skin cells. So reduce your intake of alcohol.

In short, there are foods that reduce cellulite and there are foods that help create cellulite. So eat more cellulite reduction, such as complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, fish oil, whole grain foods, lean protein and low fat dairy products.

At the same time, also reduced the fat, salt, sugar and alcohol intake.

Don't Forget: foods that help in reducing cellulite are typically the foods that are good for overall good health. So it's not just your cellulite which will improve!
